Lord Rothschild presided at a meetsing to welcome the American ' Zionist xnedical unit •which is proceeding for relief work in Palestine.
Mr G. N. Barnes, spe&king on behalf of the Government, said that Palestine was now ready for transformation. It .xrould be the llrsl scene in the uplifting of the peoples of the East in which Zionism would play the leading part. The Government had proclaimed their trust in the Zionists' future because SSionisni -was identified with the ideals for which'the Allies were fighting.
Sir Alfred Moad said that Zionism 3id not intend to prodtaim a raonopoly of the Holy Land, excluding other races. Its object was to establish in Palestine a Jewish national centre, whore Jews from all parts of the world could maintain the life, thought, and mission of $ke Jewish race in complete harmony with the other peoples of Pale a tine.
