ANNUAL PRIZE-GIVING

October 4tb. In continuation of the celebration of the anniversary of the Nelson Baptist. Sunday School, the Scfcool of Music was again taxed to its full seating capacity last night. The meeting was presided over by Mr Thos. Pettit, the superintendent of the school. Tte Revs. J. Laird and F. Oldrieve and Mr P. A. Dickson were also on tie platform.

The chairman, in his opening address, expressed his pleasure at seeing so largo an audience, and spoke of th^ value of the work of the Sunday School, whicb he believed was second to no other phase of Christian work. Mr A. B. Emmett, the secretary, presented the annual report, reviewing t)iu work;of the past year. Tiere were on the roll 100 boys and 131 girls. The* teachers numbered 12 females and 3 males. The infant class was ably conducted by Mr H. "Wood. One of the scholars in this section l:ad not missed a Sunday for three years. The Christian Endeavour Society had a membership of 23, with an average weekly attendance of 21. Reference was made to the number of teachers and scholars who had responded to the call of King and country in the great war. Over £33 had been raised for missionary purposes.
