A party of Motueka residents returning by motor car from a sale at Dovedale, via the Waimeas, on Thursday evening, were travelling up the Moutere Hills from the Redwood's Valley side, and in endeavouring to negotiate one of the, corners the car shot over the bank. -The occupants Bad a miraculous escape from injury. The ear was brought up on to the road yesterday morning.

June, 26. Mr. Ales. Spittal, sen., whp is 73 years of age. while cutting blackberries on Mr. J. F. Rose's property at Anatoki last week, had the misfortune to slip down a bank about 20 feet, owing to stepping on a decayed log. He sustained a bad injury to the left eye and internal injuries to the chest, necessitating medical attention.

. . _ ; June, 38. On Monday evening' a young man rajned Lees was seriously burned at the Upper Moutere. He -was yesterday brought to the Nelson Hospital. Lees, who worked at Sharland's flaxmill, went into a companion's whare to warm himself before an open fire. Sometime later .the companion returned and found that Lees had, evidently seized by a fit, fallen into the fire and- was seriously burned. Dr Horrax, of Motueka, was called in and ordered the man's removal to Nelson Hospital. Mr Thos. Hewet.son very kindly . brought out his car and conveyed the injured man to Nelson.

July, 10. A young man named Jack Pawson, employed at Mr R. Watson's blacksmith's shop, met with a rather serious accident on Saturday afternoon. He was assisting in loading a lorry with furniture in Mr Kinzett's yard, Vanguard street, when the horse became startled by the train. In attempting to hold the horse, Pawson was knocked down,; and thyVlorry apparently -went jpyer jtihp upper part ; of_ his f body, "his sliotiidefs and bacE being badly foruised and his head knocked about. We iu-o inforroed that Mr Hetherington had taken the bridle from a horse still within the shafts of a vehicle, when the horse played up; and knocked Mr Hetherington down, and it is believed that the wheels of the vehicle passed over him while he was on the ground. Mr Hetherington was removed indoors, and Dr. Washbournj of ;R-ichinond, was called in. The doctor found that two or three ribs, had been [badly- broken, ■'but could not a.t ; the time* define the exact extent of the injuries.. July, 15 j A bo>- named Albert Ranisay, aged 6, i residing with his parents in. Brougham street, near the old cemetery,.was seriously injtuvd on Thursday afternoon through •being; knocked down by a motor car driven by Mr C. Hunter, of Richmond. The "child was in the street near Snow's Hill, tfith some other children. On the approach of the car, the children made a rush for the footpath. Ramsay, however, was struck by the car. Mr Hunter stopped and attended to the boy, and Nurse England ■rendered, first aid.. Mr Mellett then drove up and conveyed tho boy to his j homo. He was found to have suffered severe concussion and a broken leg. Dr. Wash-bourn was called in, and ordered his removal to the Hospital, where the patient remained unconscious for some- time.
