LABOUR REQUIRED FOR SHIP CONSTRUCTIONS.
(Received April 17, 9.5 p.m.)
London, April! 7
The "Daily Chronicle" says that the Cabinet on Friday deferred its decision on the question, of general compulsion. Ministers consulted Lord Kitchener and Sir William Robertson, and were to reconsider the matter to-day (Monday). It is believed that the neKis of the Army for many months to come can be realised without the compulsion of fit unattested married men. There is an urgent need for labour for the completion of merchant vessels and Tor accelerating the building of lighter warships.
