MR SAUNDERS'S OFFER ACCEPTED.

Tho special committee appointed at the meeting of tho Nelson Horticultural Society on.Monday night met Mr Saunders and discussed matters connected with tho offer to hold shows at the Empire Theatre. Mr Saunders said he was prepared to find all the space that would! be required for exhibits, lie would utilise for this purpose an area in front of the .stage in the downstairs portion of tho theatre, the spacious balcony fronting Bridge st.reet. and also tho vacant space between the theatre and the fence of .the adjoining building. Tho latter space is of considerable area, and would be covered with an awniug for show purposes. Mr Saunders further offered to admit all members of the society to the theatre during show days., and also to recognise the pa.sse.sv issued with the society's half-guinea tickets; to Tindertake the show advertising; at'd to pay the society a fixed sum as comixmsation for the loss oi" "gate" money. Tho society .will have full control of the tsh-ows, taking t<he entry fee and paying the prize money, and retaining its membership subscriptions.' Mr Saunders will run ccntinticus picture entertainments during the two days- of each" show, and he believes that an arrangement such as that outlined will be of- mutual benefit to himself, and th*?> society. He anticipates that them will be good^ attendances at the picture entertainments, wbilo at the same time he can put into effect a ]ong-chorished wish to assist the Horticultural Society in making the flower shows attractive.

Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund, on the matter being mentioned to Mr. Saunders he readily agreed to permit- the arrangement to stand. The position now is that tho Ladies' "Committee of the Sick an<3 Wounded Soldiers' Fund, have the option of having .stalls at the bulb show,, and providing any ether attractions that may be desired. The Ladies Committee will meet as soon as possible to definitely decide whether the society's otter shall be accepted.
