ENEMY CHECKED ON THE DNIESTER.

SEVERE DEFEATS,

RUSSIANS FORCED TO ABANDON

STANISLAVOFF

(Received June 13, 3.30 p.m.)

Petrograd, Juno 12,

Official.—The enemy's repeated and determined attacks westward of Shavli were repulsed, the Germans.; leaving piles of killed and wounded in front of our trendies. We took GOO prisoners, and captured guns and mitrailleuses.

On the left of the Dubi'ssa the enemy continued fruitless attacks in the Mobciska region. Wo continued on Wednesday night to press the enemy between the Tismenica and Sinka rivers, capturing many prisoners, besides quick-firers and other booty.

The enemy, with a view of covering the retreat, despatched an armoured train and five armoured motor cars to support the infantry towards Stryi and MikolaiefF, but our accurate gun-fire compelled a rapid retreat.

In this action the head of our column of infantry, which developed an energetic offensive, captured the whole of the fifth company of the 79th Austriau Regiment.

The enemy in the defeat on the left bank of the Dniester, sustained especially severe losses in the Prussian Guards' section, where wy captured ten guns and eighteen mitrailleuses.

The enemy's attacks on a bridgehead near Halieo compelled its. to modify our front occupying the Pfuth line. In the course of this operation we abandoned Stanislavoff.

We repelled German attacks at Podlugic, and took 1000 prisoners further south.
