BRILLIANT RUSSIAN STRATEGY.
ENEMY LURED TO. DESTRUCTION.
CHECKED AT MOST DANGEROUS
POINTS
(Received June 13, 3.30 p.m.)
London, June 12
The "Daily Chronicle's" Petrograd correspondent states that the Gorman advance has been checked at the two
most dangerous places, Mosciska and Zuravno. A continuance of the advance would have brought the enemy to the immediate neighbourhood of Lemberg.
The Russians scored a distinct success at a critical moment, and regained command of both banks cf the Dniester.
The Germans in Eastern Galicia were compelled to move their armies by isolated routes,- while the Russians, holding several important railway junctions^ were able to rapidly transfer troops from one portion of the front to an-
other
The "Daily Telegraph's" correspondent says the success on the Dniester was the result of brilliant strategy. The enemy were lured to disaster, the operation corresponding to the Russian success at MikolaiefP in May.
It will discourage the German idea of withdrawing troops to assist in the Western campaign.
