NELSON V. MOTUEKA

The annual senior representative match between the Nelson and Motueka Associations was played on Easter Monday at Trafalgar Park, and resulted in a very easy win for Kelson.by an innings and 102 runs. Motueka, owing to several men being in camp and others unable to get away, did not have their best team. Nelson also had several emergencies, in addition to which Thomason was unable to bowl. Through a breakdown with their car, the Mctueka men did not reach Nelson in time to play in the morning, and a start was not made till 1 o'clock. It so happened, however, that there was ample time to finish the match. The weather was perfect and the wicket in good order. Wratt (Motueka) won the toss from Neale, and elected to bat, Duncan and Wratt opening to Neale and Louisson. The Buy men never looked like making rune, and one for 7 soon read four for 7 and ten six for 18, the total being only 35, which took an hour to make. Nelson caught this number for the first wicket, but did not make the runs they should liave done. Five were down for 73 when Louisson (scoring very quickly) and Miller took the score to 134. The last wicket added 24, and the total reached 179 (occupying two hours in the making), Louisson's 65 including 8 fourers. Motueka did very little better in their second innings, for they totalled only 5 more than in their first and were all out under an hour. The only change made in the Nelson bowling throughout the match was that Jackson relieved Louisson towards the end of the second innings. Neale secured fifteen wickets- for 38 in the two innings. Messrs. H.S. Dickson and W. Fowler gave satisfaction as umpires. Following are the scores:—
