SELWYN MISSION LAUNCH.

(From "The Colonist," March 3.)

The residents in the Pelorus Sounds and adjacent districts are taking the greatest interest in the Bishop of Nelson's aggressive movement in the direction of supplying their spiritual needs by means of the Selwyn mission launch. Already over £60 has been contributed from the Sounds, and the amount now in hand is nearly £250. About £150 is still required, which is' expected before Easter. As Miss Marsden has kindly expressed her desire to provide for the mission van it is hoped that those who have contributed to this special object will allow their donations to be used, for the boat. ■ At the meeting of the Standing Committee held on 17th February, a special .committee was appointed to take immediate steps to provide the boat. The committee met the following day, and decided to have specifications drawn up and tenders called as soon as possible. The committee «is conferring with _Mr. Walter Seymour, whose advice is specially valuable. 'The Bishop desires to express his thanks" to the Rev. J. Hornby-Spear for his active interest in connection- with the raising of funds for the boat, and particularly for his work among the Sunday school children. On Easter Day there will be a Sunday school rally on behalf of the boat. Already £20 has been given by the children.
