POLICE AT WAIHI.

THE GOVERNMENT ENQUIRY

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

Wellington, Feb. 12. Nothing is being, done by the Government at present to imeet the deipaiKl .of the Federation of Labour for ah inv^etirgation into the action of the police during the Waihi strike. Whether the Government is favourable or otherwise, it would not be considered proper to eet up any guch inquiry w>lril6 the ordinary Courts are still concerned with events arising out of the struggle. I under.'stand,' however, that at tho proper time the Government is quite prepared to grant an investigation if charges are made as a basis for an inquiry.
