ALL SAINTS' CHURCH.

ANNUAL MEETING OF PARISHION-

ERS

(From "The Colonist," April 16.)

The annual meeting of parishioners of All Saints' Church was " held in the schoolroom last night, when there was a very fair attendance. The vicar, tho Rev W. S. Lucas, presided, and opened the meeting with prayer.

The annual report of the churchwardens and vestry, and the balance sheet, were read and adopted. The latter showed tho finances of tho parish to be in a healthy condition. The report, which was brief, made reference to various routine matters. The principal work undertaken during the year was tho connection of the V icarage with the sewerago scheme, at a cost of £55.

The Vicar addressed the meeting, reviewing tho activities of the various church organisations, pointing out weaknesses in some cases, and indicating moans of increasing their strength. He urged all the members of tho societies and the parishioners generally to work unitedly and steadfastly in the interests of the parish. Ho referred with regret to the failure of his efforts to secure the assistance of a deaconess. He had maue inquiries throughout tho Dominion, and also in England and Australia, and had found that a d>eaconess was not procurablo at present, the demand for their services being everywhere greater than the supply. Tho Vicar nominated Mr C. H. Coote as Vicar's Churchwarden, and Mr A. F. Hodges was re-elected parishioners' Churchwarden.

A ballot was taken for tho election of ten Vestrymen, resulting in favour of Mes-srs J. S. Ruthorfurd, W. W do Castro, Andrews, E. E. Boyes, Robinson, Wright, H. York, W. York, Ramsden, and S. H. Strong.

Messrs do Castro, Boyes, and Strong wore elected Synodsnwin for tho parish, and Messrs Coote, Strong, and do (Jastro were appointed parochial nominators. > On the motion of Mr Boyes, seconded by Mr Strong, a resolution was unanimously carried expressing deep regret at tho retirement of Bishop Mules, and the hope that he would continue to reside in tho! diocese, and wishing him every happiness in his future life. Votes of thanks were passed to the organist and choir, tho Sunday school teachers, bellringers, lady decorators, lay readers, and the collectors of the Mite Society.

Tho meeting concluded with the pronouncing of the Benediction, and a pleasant hour was spent socially, refreshments being provided by the ladies of the parish.
