THE LITHGOW IRONWORKS.
Sydney, Jan 16. The Lithgow ironworkers' unions havo replied to Mr Hoskins' proposals tor a settlement of tho ironworkers' dispute to the effect that thore are still a number of persons in tho employment of the firm with whom the unionists positively refuse to work. If these were removed tin? unions wem sure a satisfactory settlement would be arrangeable, and they wore prepared to confer on that basis. From the fact that the unions havo appointed a representative to the Sydnoy Labour Council and are sending a delegate to New Zealand, it appears that a settlement is not expected.
