VOTES FOR PUBLIC WORKS.
[United Pfess Association.] Wellington, Feb. 9. The Cabinet to-day passed the following railway votes: — Stratford to Ongarue, £4000; Gisborne to Hotorua, £750 j North Auckland, £1771; Midland, £2500; Hutt railway and road improvement,. £12,000. For roads and bridges in the various districts £4700 was voted ,and £4400 for primary and technical schools. A tender was accepted for. the Otoko Valley viaduct, on the Gisbprne-Motu railway! Tendors are to be. invited for progress works on the Westport, to Inangahua railway, and the supply of railway bridge girders. The sum of £2000 was voted for the improvements to tho Porirua Mental Hospital.
