NELSON TROTTING CLUB.

ANNUAL RACES. The Nelson Troting Club's annual race meeting will take place at Richmond Park, next Wednesday. The .acceptances for all events are highly satisfactory, and the racing promises to bo most interesting. Given fine weather there should be a large attendance of the public, as the afternoon is the weekly half holiday. The Club recently purchased a starting clock, which arrived on Saturday morning, and will be used for the fit 't. time in Nelson. The committee have spared no efforts to provide for the creature comforts of patrons. Mrs Windleborn has secured the soft drinks stall (which will be in the grandstand bar) and arrangements have been made with Messrs Henry and Co., of Nelson, f -r the supply of afternoon tea, which w H be served in the grandstand bar. The right of cards has been secured by Mr F. N. Jones, who as usual will provide a programme replete with full information about the runners. The trotters St Joe and Picaroon fin charge of Mr L. Gifford), and Lady Bella and Sir John (in charge of Mr Sam Gallagher) have arrived from the (West Coast, and Beach Yaw ( : n charge of Mr J. Seton) has arrived from Christchurch. It will be remembered that it was Mr Seton who brought the now famous trotter Black Child to Nelson some years ago, and with him captured two events. The Blenheim horses Chips, Welcome Mary and Woodbufn Lass are expected to reach Nelson to-day. . King Teddy and Golden Tresses are on their way from Takaka. Tini Peri, Miss Olive, and Lady H. will .arrive from Wellington by the Pateena to-morrow morning. Dick Stevens has arrived from Christciurch and is in good fettle. A large contingent of visitors are expected- from Blenheim for the meeting. Mr F. N. Jones has offered a prize of one guinea for the best dressed rider or driver, to be decided by ballot on the course.
