Hathaway, secretary of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust, who has been on a visit to the -Nelson district, returned to Wellington by the Mapourika on Saturday. A London cable message stateß that Mr Griffiths Taylor, of Sydney, a student at Cambridge, has been appointed geologist to Captain' Scott's expedition, A Perth cable states that among the passengers by the German mail steamer is Count Bismarck Bohle, nephew of the once famous Chancellor. He is bound for New Zealand. Mr Chamberlain has, says a London cable, gone to Cannes.
