The Hon. R. McKenzic, Minister for Public Works, arrived in Nelson yesterday morning, and to-morrow proceeds overland to the West Coast. To mark the occasion of the departure for Nelson of Mr A. E. Wedde, headmaster of the Waihakeke State School, says the "Wairarapa Daily Times," the children have presented him with a beautiful oak and silver salad bowl, inscribed as follows : — ''Presented to Mr and Mrs Wedde by the scholars of - Waihakeke, 19th March, 1909."
