OBITUARY.

MRS 11. H. J. REEVES. It is with regret that the death is recorded of Mrs Reeves, wife of the Hon It. H. J. Beeves, M.L.C., which occurred at her residence, Hardy street, on November 17th. Mrs Hooves, who had . readied her 75th year, was born, in Edinburgh, and her first experience of colonial life was iii Australia. She 'subsequently camo to New Zealand and spent a great many years on the West Coast For the past 20 years she had been a resident of Nelson. ■•■ Mrs Reeves who was twice married, leaves a family of three sons, two by her first marriage being Mr John' Clark, of the Inangahua County Council's serv.ice, and Mr J. F. Clark, of the firm of Messrs A. D. Kennedy and Co., Limited, of Wellington, and Mr A. J. Reeves, of Sydney, ' and seven daughters — Mrs R. Arnold, (Korere), Mrs C. F. Muntz (Moutere), Mrs E. S. Cress well (Nelson), Mrs R; H. Ellis (Melbourne), Misses Charlotte, ■ Bessie and Hannah Reeves. The deceased lady "had been in delicate health for some time, but it was only a few days ago that her illness caused grave concern. Mr Reeves is at present on the West Coast, but is cxpetced to return this morning. The funeral of the late Mrs Reeves took place on November 19, the interment being" of a private nature. F. Trask, M.L.O. and J. Parliamentary colleagues of «ihe Hon. Mr Keeves, were present, -besides the members of the family. The RBV. J. P. Kempthorne conducted the bruial service. - The wife of Mr Harry Rodley was found dead at her residence, Waimea Road, on Nov. 13. Mrs Rodley, who had been ailing for some time past from lung trouble, had recovered sufficiently to get about and was contemplating a trip to Collingwood next week. In the forenoon she appeared to be in her usual health, but half an hour after she was last seen alive her body was found lying in a pool of blood, life being extinct. Dr Washbourn ' was able to certify that hemorrage of the lungs was the cause of death and an inquest was deemed unnecessary. Deceased leaves a family of six children, the youngest being an infant six weeks old, for whom, with Mr Rodley, the deepest sympathy will be felt in their sudden bereavement. The funeral of the late Mr E. Leonard Hoult, of Wai-iti, took place on Wednesday at the Ro.man Catholic Church, Wakefield; The burial service was conducted by the Rev Father Smith, of Nelson, in the presence of a very large number of friends and relatives. The late Mr Hoult, who was but a young man and lately married, was very popular in the district, especially in musical circles, (writes our correspondent). Ho was ill but a short while and the sympathies of the settlers are with 'his widow and relatives. "
