WANGANUI'S RECEPTION OF WEBB.

Wanganui, August 16. William Webb, the Champion Sculler of the World, met with a warm welcome home to-day. Some thousands of people met him at the railway station, and led by a band, escorted him to Cook's Garden, where speeohes were delivered by the Mayor, the member of Parliament for the disfcjict, and others. The Maoris danced hakas and they presented Webb with- a framed photograph of himself and an illuminated address. The citizens presented him with an address. The. local school children gave a barometer to Webb, and some cutlery to Mrs Webb. The proceedings were most enthusiastic. To-night the Champion is being entertained at a snioke condert.
