H BATTERY.
A meeting of members of the H | Battery, and of ex members was held last evening, when the attendance oi both was large. Captain Madigan presided, "and stated tbat the object of the meeting Was to arrange for a '. fancy fair for the purpoSe of raising j funds for the purchase of horses for the permanent u4e of the Battery* It ( was resolved that a Fancy Pair and Carnival be held at the Drill Shed from May 15th to 22nd. • Captain Topliss and ..Corporal Spear » were appointed joint secretaries, Lieut Grace treasurer, and the '- following General Committee was > appointed : Sergts. Sherwood, > Batdhelor* Richards, Brown, JoneS, . Driver Thomas, . Bohthadiet Fojrd fc ; Corp. Aydon, Gunners Lucre and , Constable, with the following ex- , members: Messrs W Lane, Hobbs, Spear, Aydon, Slinn, C Sherwood, H Pinney, McGee and Marris. Mrs Madigan was appointed President to ■~ convene a meeting of ladies to assist 1 in carrying out the work. 1 It was resolved that the Carnival ' be opened with a masquerade torch--1 light inarch, and that tho Pair be < continued during the woek with ' many amusing novelties* A hearty Vote of tbrtnlss was accorded tbe Nelson Garrison Band for their kind offer of assistance in furthering the objects of the Bazaar.
