NELSON SWIMMING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The second annual general meeting of members was held at the N. A. and 0.0. Rooms en Sept. Ist, Mr H. Spear, Deputy Captain, in the chair. There was a fair attendance of memMinutes were read and confirmed, and report and balance sheet presented and adopted. The reports stated that during the past season two sports meetings were held The firßt meeting, held at Sunday Hole, was poorly attended, owing to the cold weather , but the second meeting, held at the Port, was highly successful, the weather being "fine and the attendance of spectators good. The President's Cup winner (K. Ross) was in great form, winning the 200 yards and 50 yards events from scratch. ' Ine thanks of the Club were also extended to Kirkwood and Hounsell for exhibition of fancy swimming at these sports, which provided amuse--1 ment for the spectators during the intervals between the races. The heartiest thanks of the Committee were due to the President, VicePresidents and others for subscribing liberally to the Club's funds, also to the Press for the hearty manner in which they had co-opper-ated with the Club in forwardicg The balance sheet showed that the receipts for the year had amounted to £50, and after paying all liabilities, the Club commences the season with a credit balance of £3 15s 2d. Dr Andrew (President) wrote apologising for his absence owing to a family bereavement, and it was resolved that a letter of sympathy be forwarded to him. Apologies for absence were also received from Messrs A. T. Maginnity, R. P. Giblin, and E. S. Cresswell. New members were elected as fol-lo*vs:-W. A. Pearson, E. Player, H. Muncaster, H. Nalder, J.
