NELSON TROTTING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual nrroiing of members was held at the Trafalgar Hotel on i Sept. 6th, Major Franklyn, tho President, in the chair. Minutes were read, and the balance sheet for the past year presented. The balance sheet showed that the i recepts for the year had been £222 2s lid, and that after paying all i expenses the Club had a cash J balance in hand of £12 16s. In moving the adoption of the balance sheet, the Chairman referred i . to the disadvantages of trotting in Nelson, and said that although the i stakes had been raised last year, the 1 Club had came out fairly well. Thej management of the Club was excellent, and in this respect a great deal of credit was due to the secretary, Mr John Glen. Trotting was be- j coming fashionable in other parts of the Colony, and he hoped the • fashion would spread to Nelson, and that the meeting to be held during Carnival "Week would be a great success. The Chairman referred to the pleasant race meeting held this year, there being no protests to mar i the day's sport. He also congratulated the CJub on the face that there were no out-sfcanding nominations or acceptances, and the totalisator proi prietor, Mr F. N. Jones, on the amount of money put through the machine, whichjhe believed was in excess of the previous year. The adoption of the report was seconded i by Mr H. Baigent. i Mr Jones also considered that the balance sheet was satisfactory. Mr Lynch took exception fco the \ manner in which the balance sheet i was drawn up so far as the totalisa- > tor per centage was shown. He considered that the whole of the i percentage should be shown, and i a cheque for the percentage due the totalisator proprietor be shown on i the debit side. Mr F. N. Jones said in ail his 25 i years' experience he had never seen this done. He explained the usual course adopted when dealing with Clubs. i ;" The balance sheet was then adopted. j Officers were then elected as follws:— President, Mr J. A. Harley; Vice-President, Mr H.
