TRAFALGAR CENTENARY CELEBRATION.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Trafalgar Centenary Committee was held at the Municipal Buildings last on Sept. Ist. Present.: The Mayor (Mr H. Baigent), Captain S. V. Trask (hon. Secretay), Captain Stiles, Messrs Fell, Topliss, Easdnle and Atmore. Mr Fell reported thnt the College Governors had arranged for the foundation stone of the College to be laid at 11.30 o'clock, and also agreed to invite bis Excellency to luncheon at one o'clock. In response to the i a citations sent out to attend the offeial reception of his Excellency, aflirintive replies were received from Hona. Colonel Pitt (if his Legislative duties permit), Trask and Reeves, Mr Graham, M.H.R., the Mayor of Richmond (Mr Croucher), Acting-Mayor of Motueka (Mr J. B, Jordan). Resolved to issue further invitations to the Bishop of Nelson and Archbishop Redwood, and the Chairmen of the Takaka and Collingwood County Councils. It was resolved to recommend the General Committee to abandon the idea of a banquet in the evening. Resolved that the city be decorated for the occasion, and that application be made through the member for the city to the Minister of Public Works for the loan of bunting and decorative materal. Resolved to leave the matter of the gas light illumination on the Church Steps in the hands of the Mayor. ] Resolved to invite the co-operation of all Friendly Societies, Fire Brigade, and the School Committee with respect to the procession Some discussion took place as to the necessity for taking steps to protect the flower beds and plantation on the Church Hill at the official reception. With regard to the military portion of the reception, Colonel Wolfe suggseted thatja guard-of-honor, the Band, and an escort of Wakatu Mounted Rifles, should meet his Excellency at the wharf, and that the College Cadets should form aj guard of honor later at the College. In the afternoon a review, to occupy 45 minutes should be held, to be: followed by impromptu sports and! military displays by man-of-waramen (if available), College Cadets, &c.,\ and probably the H Battery would fire a salute. I It was resolved to approve Colonel Wolfe's programme. j Resolved that admission to the ; Park for the review, etc., be one j -shilling, school children and; members of the Navy League free, | pavlilon sixpence extra. ! Resolved that his Excellency be requested to land at nine o'clock, y Resolved to ask the Stationmaßter-in-Charge to arrange special trains for the da?. Resolved that tke Citizens' Band be invited to lead the procession of the Friendly Societies. \ Various matters of detail were dealt with, and the Committee adjourned.
