CONSUMPTIVES' HOSPITAL.

The Committee for the abovenamed Hospital met on September 6th, when Mr Piper, Chairman of toe Hospital Board, presided. Mr W. W. Snodgraaa, the Secretary, read the minutes, which were confirmed. The Chairman said the first buianesd was to decide whether there was to be a Hospital Sunday. In reply to Dr. Lucas, the Secretary said £100 more was needed, which would go for the furnishing. On the motion of Dr Hudson, it was resolved that Sunday, September 24th, be Hospital Sunday, and that the Garrison Band be asked to kindly give a programme of sacred music in the Botanical Reserve on that afternoon, a collection to be taken at the gates. The Chairman said the next question was to fix the date of the opening of the Consumptives' Hospital. ITe' thought it should be opened on a day when the members of the Hospital Board could attend. Resolved, on the motion of Dr Hudson, seconded by Mr Robinson, that the Hospital be opened on Wednesday, October 4th, The Secretary rear ■-. letter from Sir J. G. Ward, acceding the Committee's invitation t" attend the opening, and ifc was decided that the Secretary intimate to Sir Joseph Ward, the date fixed. U On the motion of Dr. Lucas, the kind offer of the Nelson Citizens' Band was accepted for the opening day. Mrs Allan suggested that the owners of the palace cars be asked to run cars to the Hospital grounds on the opening day. On the motion of Dr. Lucas, seconded by Dr. Hudson, the Ladies' Committee were asked to undertake the providing and dispensing of afternoon tea on October 4th. It was decided that the Secretary should convene a meeting of the ladies. The Secretary stated that there wre several subscriptions still due which would doubtless come in. The public had taken the matter in hand so heartily that he had no fear about receiving the £100 still repuired. ' . The meeting then adjourned.
