3 Dunedin, October 20. The Rev. F. W. IbIH will be a candidate for Waikouaiti, in order to ensure interest in the local option poll. The Prohibitionists are sanguine of being able to carry prohition in the district. Chbistchurch, October 20. Mr R. Meredith addressed the electors at Ashley on Friday. He said he would neither bej- a dumb dog, nor a gramophone of the Premier, .but would undertake to support - every liberal measure in] the interest of thejpeople. He criticised the administration of Jseveral Government departments, and spoke in favor of the freehold. HeTreceived a vote of thanks and confidence.
