COURT SHERWOOD FOREST, A O.F.
On Tuesday, January 12, this Court held its usual half yearly meeting, when P.O.R. D. Cresswell was in the chair, and there was a very fair number of members present. The balance sheet, with Auditors' report, was read and adopted. The Court is progressing favorably, the total worth of the funds amounting to £875 7s 2d, showing an increase of £41 3s 8d for the half year. The members of this Court should congratulate themselves on the wise arrangement made with their Court Surgeon, whereby he attends the wives and families of members at a small rate per annum, as owing to the unusual amount of sickness among members 1 families during the past half year, without the above provision it would have simply meant very heavy taxation for the next few years, if nothing more serious, to many members. The funds of the Court are well invested, £775 being on mortgage on first class security. Sick pay to members for the half year
amounted to £12 16s Bd. The officers for the ensuing year were duly installed as follows :— C.R., J. Jellyman ; S.C.R., G. Norgate; P.S., C. Ching ; Treasurer, W. Condell ; Surgeon, Dr Duff. After taking a ballot Bros James Ching and Charles Ching were elected as delegates to attend the nest District meeting. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the retiring officers, and also to Dr Duff, the members expressing themselves thoroughly satisfied with his constant attention to sufferers, The District was represented by the D.0.R., who expressed himself satisfied with the manner in which the business of the Court was conducted. A vote of thanks was duly given the visiting the brethren. After the meeting the visiting brethren were entertained with a light social at Host Sheldon's.
