THE LOYAL NATIVES AGAIN IN THE FIELD.

The Wanganui Times of Saturday, Decem--sth, says:— On Thursday last, many of the Kupapns who had delivered up their arms and ammunition attended at tho Militia office to receive them back, and by 5 p.m. on that day parties of armed Xupapas were on their march both on horse and on foot to certain positions from whence they will redezvous at a certain time and place known to the commander only. Much now depends upon the number of men M'Donnell can muster and the chiefs who will lead them. Hi 3 two brothers, Captain M'Donnell, and Eosum M'Donnell will each command a division, and ns they are "all at home" at bush fighting, and will have under them men with whom they have been accustomed to fight for years pas% we have no dount but they will stick together to the last. Even if repulsed, Tito Kowaru will be mndo to feel that Wauganui, although deserted by the Government., will not be so completely at his mercy a 9 he might have been led to suppose. What assistance is the people of Wanganui prepared to give to Colonel M'Donnell and the chiefs aud men who so nobly voluuteer to attack Tito Kowaru in the bush? Should they succeed in driving him out of it, at least a hundred well mounted men—some of our best cavalry, should be prepared to attack the savages as they are escaping from the bush. Without such a force to cut them up on the open country, no decisive victory can be gained. Our Wanganui and Kai Iwi Cavalry are ably commanded, thoroughly acquainted with every track in the district and admirably adapted for a brush of that kind.
