We have much pleasure in inserting the following letter from Patara, which he lias forwarded to our office'for publication. This, wo trust, will give confidence to the settlers in the out-districts, who wo hope will not believe all the idle .rumours that are circulated:— -. Ehoa ma o nga Maori c nga pakeha, whakarongo mai me wakamutu te korero teka kaua c lcorero teka, nga Maori nga pakehar'waiho iiga p'akeha o Okato o Tntnraimaka o Oakura kia noho pai ana, kaua c mamingatia, kua mutu to patu ko to patu c toe nei me wliakp.wa anake ki to ritenga o te hire ahakoa kino ahakoa pai ranei ma te ture anake c whakarite waiho alu ki a Tito Kowaru te raua 'malii, ko tona hoa (whawhai) pakeha ahnkoa pai kino ran ej waiho ki a raua ta raua main waiho. E nga pakeha o enei rohe'o Okato kiOakaru kia noho pai marire kotou ma te whakawa anake nge mea katoa c hurihuri." Heoti ano ka mutu na te koutou hoa aroha. Na Pataea. Raukatauri, 3rd December, 1868.
