The performances of the local athletes will be carefully watched, in view of selection for the Waikato championships to be held this month. In the cycling division there is West, Rhodes, Hughes, Cameron and G. Redgate all showing excellent form, and in the junior ranks the youthful Southcombe is showing much improvement and with more serious training plus more thought to tactical riding will give him an opportunity to be a successful Te Awamutu representativewhile last week’s form of Johnny Emery and Maurice Macken local senior and junior sprint runners was excellent, although Macken’s starting is faulty but on correction he will be capable of much better. The Te Awamutu Club will be strongly represented in the 440 yards events by M. Hughes, junior grade and by Ken Peace, the former Auckland quartermiler in the senior grade.
