THIRD SERIES GAMES CONCLUDED SOME SPECTACULAR BOWLING WITNESSED The Waipa Cricket Association wound up their third series matches in the inter-club games played last Saturday. ’ Batting on the day’s play was fairly even and teams turned in sojne good totals in the majority of cases. The most spectacular part of the play was the deadly bowling in some of the matches. In the B section game between Ramblers and Kihikihi, Kihikihi collapsed completely to M. Barnett’s bowling. In the short time of seven overs, Barnett took the amazing total of 10 wickets for 24 runs, clean bowling six, catching one himself and forcing 'the 'remaining three to be caught also. Though it was in the second innings, the devastating result must be a record in games possibly throughout the best portion of the Dominion at least for this season. In the senior games, Evans took 4 for 47 and Barton 5 for 43 in the Frontier Road-Wanderers match. Bayly 5 for 28, and McMahon 4 for 19 in the Rovers-Kaipaki game, McAlpine 6 for 39 in the College-Tokanui match and Moxham 5 for 12 in the Ramblers v. Kihikihi match.

There were some good batting records for the week-end’s piiy also, Whitton making 40, Bones 50, G. Farrel not out 56, Sberritt 55, and Lamb 47.

At the conclusion of the third series Of matches, the championship points show Rovers to be well in the lead with 14 points and Paterangi a close second with 12 points, Kaipaki have 8 points, Frontier Road 6, Wanderers 6, Ngahinepouri 1. In the B section, College are well out in front with 12 points with their closest rival Tokanui next with 8 points. Ramblers follow closely with 7 points and Kihikihi with 4 and Wharepuhunga 1, bring up the rear. The following are the details of the various matches played last Saturday:— Frontier Road v. Wanderers Wanderers won on the first innings when they made 303 against Frontier Road’s total of 27 for four wickets. Kaipaki ’ After Rovers had made 325 in their first innings the previous Saturday and they had been forced to draw stumps with only 39 runs for 5 wickets, Kaipaki completed their first innings last Saturday. B SECTION GAMES College v. Tokanui As a result of a fine piece of bowling by Wishart who took 3 wickets for the insignificant total of 1 run, the College eleven were able to win on the first innings. Tokanui made a total of 103 in the first innings as against the 130 made in the first innings by College last week. Completing their first innings last Saturday at Tokanui, Tokanui scored as follows: —Whittle, lbw., b-Jacobs, 3; Ratcliffe, lbw., b Baigent, 17; Davis, b Malcolm, 4; Croasdale,' b Malcolm, 6; McAlpine, b Hughes, 27; Silvester, b Moore, 8; Waite, b Hughes, 33; Garner, c McMillan, b Wishart, 0; Grant, not out, 4; Fowler, b Wishart, 0; Latham, c Mocre, b Wishart, 2; extras, 7; total, 103. In the second innings of the College team, Sterritt made a steady 55, which was half the total made in the innings, before he was bowled by RatclitTfe. Kihikihi At the close of last week’s play, Ramblers were all out for a total of 231 runs and Kihikihi were 4 wickets down foi a total of 48 runs. Completing the first innings at Albert Park last Saturday, Kihikihi were soundly trounced on their first innings and in their second innings they were all out for a total of 37 due to the magnificent bowling of Barnett.
