SUCCESSFUL OPENING 4-YEAR EWES MAKE TO £2 6s 6d Upwards of 10,000 ewes came forward at the annual Te Anga Ewe Fair held on Monday. Taking the whole yarding of sheep this year’s entry came forward in excellent order and buyers showed their appreciation by spirited bidding. There was a total clearance with the biggest proportion finding their way to most parts of the Waikato. The top price for 2-th ewes was obtained by Mr W. J. Shaw, his entry realising £2 10s 6d; whilst a nice line of 2-th ewes from Mr J. Scott sold to £2 10s; 2-th from the estate of B. Smith sold to £2 8s 9d; Mr John Stoke’s entry made £2 8s 6d; 2-th from Tynan Bros. £2 7s 6d; Mr J. D. Wright’s entry £2 7s fid; Mr A. M. Wright £2 fis fid; Mr C. E. Shaw’s £2 7s 6d; Noel Stoke’s £2 ss; Mr E. Worsley’s £2 fis 6d; Mr N. H. Brown’s £2 5s 3d; Mr J. S. Harper £2 5s 6d. In the 4-year-old section, Mr E. Phillips secured top price for a very nice line of 4 and 5-year-old ewes, these averaging £2 6s 6d. On account of Mr F. J. Stokes, 221 4-year-old ewes realised £2 4s 6d, whilst on account of the estate of B. Smith, 287 ewes to £2 4s. Other principal sales in the 4-year-old section were: Brown Bros. £2 2s 6d; A. K. Brown £2 2s 9d; J. D. Wright £2 Is 6d. Top price for the 5-year-old ewes was obtained by Mr J. Scott, these selling to 375. A good line of 255 off Hari Hari Estate averaged 36s 3d; Mr Walter Shaw’s sold at 365, whilst J. S. Harper’s made 35s 3d. A very good line of 285 from J. T. Munro made the good price of 365. Other principal sales in the 5-year-olds were: A. N. Wright 355, J. D. Wright 34s 6d, A. K. Brown 34s 6d, S. Vicary 355, E. E. Smith 34s 6d, 1. Vicary 335.
