Stratford Rail Scheme
The need for a better passanger service on the Okahukura-Stratford railway line was drawn to ths attention of the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. E. L. Cullen, by the president of the Southern King Country sub-provincial executive of the Federated Farmers (Mr N. J. B. Dougherty), at Taumarunui recently. Mr Cullen promised to further the representations ■in the appropriate quarters. Quoting instances of the slow passenger trains travelling on the line being held up for hours at a time, Mr Dougherty said that the service was a real disadvantage to settlers along the route. Perhaps, he suggested, a railcar service could be provided.
