Donation Declined
A request for a donation towards the cost of the purchase of “Stonehurst” for use as a students’ hostel, was declined by the Borough Council on Monday night. The Auckland University Council said that the Government was giving £20,000, leaving £25,000 to be met by Aucklanders. The Councils refusal was in keeping with their policy not to give donations.
