SOCIAL EVENINGS
HELD AT RE RAU-A-MOA ENJOYABLE FUNCTIONS A series of five social evenings were held in Te Rau-a-Moa School recently, the object being to raise funds with which to purchase necessary material for scholars’ studies. The Government does not provide everything, but it does subsidise any moneys raised for such purposes £ for £. While not all goods are eligible for that grant, the sum raised will be most useful and appreciated by all concerned. By comparison with other parts of Kawhia county, Te Rau-a-Moa has a population of a mere handful, and that is why the organisers and patrons are congratulated for such a successful effort, the sum raised totalling between £l6 and £l7. While not all residents attended all the evenings, in the main most homes were represented. It is fairly safe to say that a renewal of these functions would be equally successful and appreciated. It is understood that the jubilee of the school occurs in October, and perhaps something could be dbne by way of celebrating the event.
