OLD PEOPLE’S HOME

SUITABLE BUILDING AT ROTORUA ACQUIREMENT BY HOSPITAL BOARD The board’,s proposal to acquire a suitable building for the purpose of an old people's homo was approved in principle, 'said the Minister of Health, Miss Howard, in a letter received by the Waikato Hospital Board on Monday. Miss Howard that in view of the board’s large building programme and shortage of materials it was quite out of the question for the board to errect a home, but if a suitable property was available particulars should be sent to the department. Replying to a letter from the board in which it was suggested that the Rotorua Sanatorium building could be made available for an old people’s home, Miss Howard said that this was decidedly ' üb-standard. She asked the board to submit particulars of alterations and renovations required and an estimate of cost. The board decided that the architect, Mr A. Smith, should Islirbrnit particulars of alterations and renovations required al; the sanatorium in order to provide accommodation for old people with minimum expenditure. A committee consisting of the chairman, Mr H. D.. Caro, and Messrs E. G. Guv and G, Smith was empowered to investigate the matter and send a report 'to the Minister.
