BIAS OVERCOME

HOUSING SCHEME SUCCESS THROUGH COUNTIES That the Government’s scheme for providing houses for farmers through county councils had been an excellent one was stressed by the engineer of the Matamata County Council, Mr M. E. Fitzgerald, at the Rehabilitation Conference held in Morrinsville recently. Mr Fitzgerald remarked that the scheme had proved a great success as under, it farmers could rely on the full amount of capital at a cheap rate and so erect far more convenient homes of larger size. The scheme had proved successful in spite of early political bias against it, the speaker being one of those so affected. The scheme was twice as good as any other past method, and he hoped that when materials were available again it would be gone on with. Many far better homes adding to the emenities of country life had been erected as the result of this Government scheme.
