HA VEST THANKSGIVING

MANGAPIKO SERVICE The Rev. L. F. Gunn conducted the annual harvest thanksgiving service at Mangapiko on Sunday when the schoolroom was crowded. Mr Gunn spoke on the subject, “Co-Workers with God.” The schoolroom was most tastefully decorated and there was a fine display of vegetables, fruit and groceries given for the Children’s Homes of the Presbyterian Church at Auckland.

ANGLICAN CHURCH BAZAAR AT KIHIKIHI The Ladies’ Guild of the Kihikihi Anglican Church held a very successful bazaar in the Kihikihi Town Hall on Saturday, 27th inst. Mrs M. G. Sullivan, president of the Guild, was in attendance. Also present was Mrs Downes, president of St. John’s Guild, Te Awamutu. Good business was done at the various stalls, those in charge of the stalls being:— Cakes: Mesdames R. P. Robinson and Helwig. Sweets: Mesdames A. Wallace and J. Regan. Fancy: Mrs C. Allen and Miss GWynyard. Mystery parcels: Mesdames Oldham and J. Keenan. Produce: Miss I. Temple. Bran tub: Miss D. Hamilton. Afternoon tea: Mesdames J. G. Wynyard, P. Mcßae and Miss G. Wynyard. Competitions were won and donated by the following:— Cake donated by Mrs J. Regan, won by Mrs Preston, Te Awamutu. Wine donated by Mrs Badely, won by Mrs R. Symes. Baby set, No. 1, donated by Mrs P. Finlay, won by Mrs P. Finlayson; baby set No. 2, donated by Mrs A. Maunder and worked by Mrs Goodison, won by Mrs Beet. White cardigan, donated by Mrs Maunder and worked by Mrs Goodison, won by Cissie Ball. Cushion (bought), won by Joy Wilson.

Dinner waggon cloth (worked and donated by Mrs R. P. Robinson, won by Mrs W. George. The Guild wishes to acknowledge with grateful thanks donations from Waikeria Borstal and Mesdames A. Maunder, J. Regan, R. P. Robinson, P. Finlay, Badely, and from others too numerous to mention, who helped in any way to make the afternoon a success.

Members of the Guild responsible for the bazaar were Mrs M. G. Sullivan, president; vice-president, Mrs A. Maunder; secretary and treasurer, Miss I. Temple; committee, Mesdames Oldham, Marx, Regan, Brown, Robinson, Wallace, Mcßae, Sainsbury, Allen, Helwig, Wynyard, Keenan and Badely. The total for the day’s takings was £24 18s 3d.
