LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

TOKANUIBRANCH The Tokanui branch of the League of Mothers held their first meeting of the year at the residence of Mrs Gane. There was a large number present and new members enrolled. Mrs Gane, president, welcomed all new members and visitors and as a New Year had dawned trusted that before the end the dark shadows would have lifted. . The meeting opened with the League of Mothers’ hymn, followed by the prayer and the prayer for peace. Several letters of interest were read from the Auckland branch. The roll call, “Your ambition in youth and if achieved,” brought forth many interesting and debatable subjects. A “ring” competition was won by Mrs Watson. A bring and buy stall was fully patronised. The funds from same are to go to fully equipping the hospital bed already donated by the League. Solos rendered by Mrs Yule were much enjoyed. The serving of afternoon tea concluded a most enjoyable afternoon. The April meeting is to be held at Mrs Parker’s residence.
