DAIRY SEASON

PRODUCTION FIGURES In a statement on Wednesday Mr C. J. Parlane, general manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, said that the production by his company for the season ended May 31, 1942, totalled 87,638 tons, made up as follows: —Butter 42,552 tons, cheese 32,588 tons, milk powder 8966 tons, condensed milk 3582 tons. Mr Parlane said that owing to the increase in quantity of cheese manufactured, the total output exceeded that of the previous season by 2972 tons, or 3.5 per cent. However, when reduced to terms of butterfat there was an actual decrease of 7.78 per cent, this being due to less favourable weather conditions plus a shortage of suitable farm labour.
