WEDDING BELLS

BROWN—BURNS A marriage of interest to Te Awamutu was solemnised in St. John’s Anglican Church on Monday, 6th April, when the Rev. Mr E. H. Strong officiated, and the organist was Mrs H. Atkinson. The bridegroom, Leading Aircraftsman A. R. Brown, is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. W. Brown of Puriri, Thames. His bride, Bernice Louie Burns, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. H. Burns, of Te Awamutu, was escorted by her father, by whom she was given away. Her lovely model gown of ivory embossed satin fashioned with a heart-shaped neckline, was finished with a spray of orange blossom. The skirt was cut on slimfitting lines falling gracefully to form a rounded train edged with pleated tulle, while the dainty embroidered tulle veil, held in place by a coronet of orchids, fell softly to form a second train. A necklet of pearls and a bouquet of white cyclamen, dahlias, and maidenhair fern completed a very charming ensemble. Attending the bride was Miss Rona Graham of Hamilton, who wore a lilac chiffon frock with a very full bodice and skirt trimmed with a deeper toning of satin at neck, waist, and hem. The short sleeves were ruched in satin. The finishing touches were provided by tulle mittens of the same colour as the frock and finished off with gold bows, and a pleated tulle halo trimmed with lilac and gold flowers. She carried a bouquet of lilacs, asters, and gold abutilons. Leading Aircraftsman M. Younger was the best man, and the ushers were Mr L. W. Spence, of Te Awamutu, and Mr H. Gallichan of Otorohanga. At the reception in the Regent Lounge Mrs J. H. Burns, wearing a dusty pink frock, navy coat, and accessories, and carrying a bouquet of toning asters, received the guests. She was assisted by the mother of the bridegroom in a brown tailored costume with brown accessories and carrying a bouquet of gold marigoldsThe bride travelled in a grey tailored coat and skirt and furs with black accessories.
