WOMEN’S DIVISION
SOUTH AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE QUARTERLY MEETING The quarterly meeting of the South Auckland Provincial Executive of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the R.S.A. rooms, Te Awamutu. Mrs W. G. Neill presided over a moderate attendance, the shortage of benzine preventing the presence of delegates from several branches. Letters were read in connection with the visit of Miss Cocks Johnson, a lecturer on fruit and vegetable preservation, etc., and it was decided to arrange, if possible, to have some instruction in that connection. In view of the prevailing conditions it was decided not to continue with the previous proposal to hold a winter school in Hamilton, but to support, if possible, the schools for adult education planned for Auckland and Tauranga. Mrs F. J. B. Ryburn gave her housekeeping report, and Mrs D- McIntosh spoke about the National Council of Women. Three delegates from the Women’s Division, Mesdames McIntosh and Godfree and Miss Jamieson, were re-elected. Several remits sent in from branches were discussed, and the meeting terminated with votes of thanks to Te Awamutu members, who provided the lunch, and to the chairwoman.
