SOCIAL FUNCTIONS

FAREWELL TO MRS A. HANNA. A very enjoyable evening was spent at Mrs Teasdale’s home last evening in order to bid farewell to Mtrs A. Hanna, who is about to leave Te Awamutu to make her home in Cambridge. The hostesses were Mrs Teasdale (black ring velvet), Mrs J. ,C. Self (palma violet ring velvet), Miss McLeod (floral crepe de chine), Miss Empson (floral georgette), and Miss A. Hawke (brown). The guest of the evening looked charming in brown taffeta appliqued with golden leaves. Among others present were Mrs Bond, Snr., Mrs J. Oliphant, Mrs W. Mackenzie, Mrs F. L. Dunn, Mrs J. B. Wl. Roberton, Miss Hope Civil, Miss C. Montefiore, and Miss J. Elliott. During the evening Mrs Teasdale, in an appropriate speech, presented Mrs Hanna with a crystal bowl and Shelley sweets dish, and remarked that the gifts were accompanied with all good wishes for the recipient’s happiness in her new home. Music and games sped the hours all too quickly. Mrs Oliphant was the most successful bridge player. The rooms had been effectively decorated with pink sweet peas, roses, and other seasonal blooms, and a bright fire made the surroundings cosy indeed.
