Mjiss Wells, plunket nurse at Te Kuiti, was visiting friends at Te Awamutu during last week-end.

Mliss Isabel Younie, of Te Awamutu, a pupil of Brain’s College, has received notification from the Public Service Department that she has been successful in passing the junior Government examination for shorthand and typing.

Inquiry this morning brings the information that the three people injured in a car smash on Sunday afternoon just north of the borough, and who were removed 1 to a local private hospital for treatment, are. making quite satisfactory progress towards recovery.

At the meeting of the Waikato Presbytery at Hamilton on Tuesday, it was intimatdd that a call addressed to the Rev. H. J. Lilburn, of Knox Church Hamilton East, to the pastorate of St. James’ Church, Auckland, would come before the meeting of the Auckland Presbytery next Tuesday. A special meeting of the Waikato Presbytery twill be held on Wednesday, December 13th, at Knox Church to deal with the matter.

Jones, that nt the invitation of the Government, backed by the recommendation of the Chief of the Imperial Staff, MajorGeneral Freyberg, who is in command of the New Zealand Military Forces, overseas, will shortly pay a visit to the Dominion. “At the time of his appointment to the New Zealand Command,” said Mr Jones, “Major-General Freyberg was General Officer Commanding the Salisbury Plain Area. Since the outbreak of the war he had spent some time in France, and now he was coming to discuss question of organisation with Major-General Duigan, Chief of the General Staff here, and the Government, to meet the officers and men whom he led, and generally familiarise himself with the military situation in New Zealand.” It is expected that Major-General Freyberg will be several weeks in New Zealand.
