MUSIC PASSES
TRINITY COLLEGE TESTS. PRACTICAL EXAMINATIONS. The supplementary practical examination in music and elocution held in . Hamilton under the auspices of Trinity College of Music, London, was concluded on Friday. The examiner was Dr C. Edgar Ford, F.T.C.L., of London. An announcement will be made later with reference to the medals awarded annually by the secretary of Hamilton centre. The following candidates from Te Awamutu and district were successful:—. First steps, pianoforte: Mona M. S. Alexander, Noreen C. Candy, Beryl R. J. West. Initial pianoforte: Allison I. Law. These four all passed with merit, and are pupils of Mrs C. D. Cummins, Pokuru. Miss P. North’s pupils were: Senior division: Honours, Dian a M. Wall; pass, Dorothy P. Clements. Intermediate division. Merit, Margaret E. Finch and Marie Ash; pass, Miriam Pethybride and Ivor Pethybridge. Junior division: Merit, Betsy Maddei*n; pass. Desmond A. Bryant. Te Awamutu was also interested in the results of the London College of Music, held at Hamilton last Saturday. Three local pupils of Miss Horan, of Frankton, were successful, Ethne W'yllie gaining a pass in the intermediate division, and in the elementary division Elaine North passed with merit and Jeanette Wyllie gained a pass.
Successful pupils from St. Joseph’s Convent were: Initial grade: Elsie Nobes (honours), Joan Moxham and Betty Harden (merit), and Frances Mackenzie (pass). Preparatory grade: Violin, Colleen (merit); piano, Belle Sklei(|*s (merit). Miss M. Annibal’s pupil, Brenda Lines, passed with merit in first steps pianoforte and Miss J. Ferguson’s pupil, Shirley Ammon, gained similar honours.
