WEDDING BELLS

STEPHENS—TAYLOR. The wedding took place on the evening of Saturday, 23rd April, at St. John s Church of England, Te Awamutu, of Miss Phyllis May Taylor, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. TayTor, of Puahue, ‘to M,t Ronald Maurice Stephens, second son of Mr and Mrs A. Stephens, of Hastings. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Martin Sullivan, vicar of Te Awamutu, and Miss Phyllis North played the wedding music. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful gown of magnolia satin over a dress of silk net. The veil was held to the head by a coronet of orange blossom, and the bride carried a bouquet of cream roses and chrysanthemums. The bridesmaids were the Misses Joyce and Patricia Taylor (sisters of the bride) and Shirley Dawson (niece of the bridegroom), who wore frocks of pale shades of organza fashioned on Victorian lines. Their headdresses were of flowers, and they carried bouquets of pink and blue flowers and streamers. The best man was Mr Dick Hunter, and the groomsman was Mr Jack Stephens. Following the ceremony a dance was held in the Panehakua Hall at Puahue. The bride’s mother wore a frock of black satin with gold lame coatee; Mrs Stephens wore black satin with silver trimmings. The bride’s travelling frock was a smart grey suit, with blue accessories in harmony. The young couple departed by car for their honeymoon, and will later make their home in Hamilton.
