FIRE FIGHTERS

TE AWAMUTU BRIGADE. ANNUAL MEETING. There was a full attendance of members at the annual meeting of Te Awamutu Fire Brigade last evening, Superintendent B. F. Morris presiding. The treasurer’s statement, disclosing a fair credit balance, was regarded as highly satisfactory, and was adopted. The superintendent reported on the year’s activities on lines similar to his annual report to the Fire Board, as already published. He especially thanked all members for their loyal co-operation at parades and calls. The following officers were unanimously re-elected: Secretary, Mr LW. Spence; treasurer, Mr J. Dalton; honorary surgeon, Dr F. C. Blundell; honorary auditor, Mr G. O. Jourdain. The social committee was re-ap-pointed, and it was decided to hold the annual ball some time in August or September. It was decided to hold the usual bonfire and fireworks display on sth November (Guy Fawkes night), and to request the Domain Board to grant the requisite authority for the use of Albert Park on the occasion, to apply for the necessary permission from the Inspector of Explosives, and to invito Te Awamutu Municipal Band to participate in the function. This terminated the business of the meeting, which then resolved itself into harmony, a few pleasant hours being spent in music and toast. The superintendent extended a special welcome to ex-Captain W. Ryan, who is a life member of the Brigade.
