HEALTH DEPARTMENT
TE AWAMUTU APPOINTMENTS. PERMANENT OFFICER AND NURSE. The Health Department, in pursuance of its progressive policy of providing up-to-date health services for the people, has decided to station permanently in Te Awamutu a resident health officer and nurse. The health officer will be Mr A. W. Jr.*;ieson, wlu is bemg transferred from Taumarunui, and who will shortly take up his residence in Te Awamutu. His appointment is prompted by a desire by the Department to give greater attention to the requirements of local bodies and to the work among Maoris. With headquarters at Te Awamutu, Mr Jamieson’s district will comprise the whole of the counties of Otorohanga and Kawhia, that part of the Waipa county south of Te Awamutu, and that part of the Waitomo county to the eight-mile junction south of Te Kuiti, in addition to which he will exercise jurisdiction in all internal boroughs and town districts. In regard to work among the Maoris a nurse at present comes from Hamilton, but the Health Department has decided to station permanently a nurse in Te Awamutu, and the appointment will be made at an early date.
