WEDDING BELLS

BEALE—STRONG. A very pretty wedding was solemnised on Saturday evening at the London Street Methodist Church, Hamilton, when Mavis Gene, elder daughter of Mrs H. V. Pearte, of Te Awamutu, was married to Kenneth Clarendon Beale, only son of Mr and Mrs H. Beale, of Mount Eden, Auckland. The Rev. R. B. Tinsley (formerly of Auckland) officiated, and the church had been artistically decorated in pink and white (spring blossom being used effectively) by girl friends of the bride. Appropriate organ music was played as the bride entered the church with her brother, Mr Bruce Pearte (Hamilton). She looked charming in a gown of ivory magnolia lace, fashioned in early Victorian style; the bodice, cut low at the neck, was close-fitting, and the skirt, which fell into a full train, was cut smartly, with a slight bustle, and it hung in graceful lines. Over this a short coatee of the same lace was worn, with a stand-up collar, and a vest-line falling away to a basque; the sleeves were of leg-of-mutton style. She wore a hat of matching lace, and stiffened silk net, and ivory satin shoes. She carried a shower bouquet of white rosebuds, lachinalias, azaleas, and maidenhair fern, tied with a bow of white lace ribbon. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Dorothea Pearte, who wore a frock of eau-de-nil green cluny lace cut on slim-fitting lines, having a cowl neck in the front, back buttoned from neck to waist with tiny lace buttons. The waist was finished with a belt and a pink posy; leg-of-mutton sleeves finished in a point over the hands. She wore a shovel hat in the same shade of green, crinoline and net, finished with pink velvet flowers. She wore silver shoes, and carried a heart-shaped bouquet of pale pink rosebuds, azaleas, and maidenhair fern, tied with a bow of pink libbon. The matron of honour was Mrs Bruce Pearte, sister-in-law of the bride, who wore a frock of pink cluny lace, cut on slim-fitting lines, the bodice being fitted with a roll collar, and small pink lace buttons down front and back; leg-of-mutton sleeves finished to a point over the hands She wore a pink silk straw and net shovel hat and silver shoes, and carried a heart-shaped bouquet of pink rosebuds, azaleas, and maidenhair fem, tied with a bow of pink ribbon.
