PASSENGER FARES
HAMILTON-TE AWAMUTU SERVICE.
The Hamilton-Te Awamutu passenger service license held by L. Hodgson (M;r McCaw) was renew ed by the No. 1 Transport Authority on Wednesday at Hamilton. An amended fare schedule was granted, the authority being of the opinion that since Hodgson’s service ran for the greater part at some distance from the railway and fulfilled a need to the travelling public these people should not be penalised as the company’s financial position warranted the reduced fare schedule that had been submitted. Mr Phelan added that on occasions when any particular trip did not warrant the use of two 17-seater vehicles the operator might then use one 22seater bus. He would be required to comply with any by-laws regarding stopping places which might be imposed by the Hamilton Borough Council.
