POWER BOARD AREAS
BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENTS. SUGGESTION FROM DEPARTMENT. The longstanding boundary dispute between the Waitomo and Te Awamutu Power Boards (says the King Country Chronicle) seems likely to be settled as a result of a letter which was received from the Chief Electrical Engineer, Mr Kissell, at the Waitomo Power Board meeting on Monday. Atfer a discussion it was decided to accede: to the latter’s suggestion, and Messrs V. W. Simms, W. A. Lee and Wi. Bluck were appointed a sub-committee with power to interview the Te, Awiamutu Board and come to a settlement of a fresh boundary. Mr Kissell stated he had noted in the Chronicle that the question of supply to the Waitomo Board’s outer area in the southern part of the Lirongia survey district was still unsolved, and offered the suggestion that, because the Te Awamutu Board was in a much better position to give power to this area sooner than the Waitomo Board, the most logical way to get over the present impasse would be to arrange a transfer ot territories. The electric lines of the Te Awamutu Board, he pointed out, were at present within easy striking distance of the area. Mr Lee considered the Board should pass a resolution acceding to the request, though he felt that, if the Te Awamutu Board had been prepare., to give bulk supply to Waitomo on the same terms as they gave to other consumers, the Waitomo Board would have been able to reticulate, the area. However, that Board felt it had the right to charge a highly remunerative price for such bulk supply. Mr O’Connell said the scZtlers were entitled to consideration—they l had been hanging on for years. The comjmittee mentioned above was authorised to deal with the matter of arranging boundaries.
