TOPICS OF THE HOUR. SPORTS AND PASTIMES. (Our Resident Representative). All Rugby contests scheduled at Otorohanga for Saturday last were postponed owing to the unfavourable weather conditions. A representative hockey team from Ohakune visited Otorohanga during the week-end for an inter-club match with local players, the visitors being defeated by 5 goals to 4. Mr H. Miller (Otorohanga) refereed a fine contest. An inter-club match between Otorohanga and Kio Kio was played on the Kio Kio golf links during the week-end, the aggregate of scores be. ing in favour of the Otorohanga ladies and the Kio Kio men players. Messrs V. W. Simms (Otewa), (chairman) land W. F. Seeker (secretary) of the Wiaitomo Power Board, are attending the annual conference of Power Boards in Wellington. Messrs R. Boddy (chairman) and S. J. Aston (secretary) are representing Wairere Power Board at the annual conference of Power Boards in Wellington. Mir A. C. Thompson (Otorohanga) presided at the annual meeting of the King Country Lawn Tennis sub-As-sociation. The election of officers resulted: —Patron,, Dr Howard; president, Mr A. C. Thompson; vice-pre-Messrs W’ebb, N. A. Davidson and Buck; of Taumarunui, Te Kuiti and Mangapeehi, respectively; secretary and treasurer, Mr N. A. Davidson; management committee, Messrs J. F. Trapski, F. Sparks, Purcell, N. G. Browne and G. L. Gourse; selection committee, Messrs J. D. McCracken, N. G. Browne and A. C. Thompson; delegates to Waikato Association, Messrs Miller, Brown, Thompson and Sparks; auditor, Mr H. E. Lawrence. It was decided that A and B teams should consist of a minimum of four, and a maximum of six players, clubs to state how many they will play. A recommendation to the executive was carried, that A grade championships should be held at Taumarunui, and the B grade championships be contested in two divisions. The venue for the North v. South King Country A and B matches was left to the executive to decide. A most successful past season was reported bv the president.
